Dubai:  The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched the second phase of its "University Certificates Recognition" system, aiming to further simplify the process for graduates of foreign universities.

The system decreased the number of documents needed to recognize foreign HEI certificates by 85%, reduced transaction execution time by 50%, and halved the steps required for certificate recognition

This initiative aligns with the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme's goals of streamlining procedures and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Building on success

The first phase of the system, launched in 2023, proved successful. Customer satisfaction soared to over 90%, with a significant reduction in complaints (85%). Additionally, the updates reduced paperwork by 85%, transaction times by 50%, and the number of steps required for certificate recognition by half.

Benefits for students

The second phase introduces even more improvements for international students seeking recognition of their foreign university degrees. With faster and more efficient processing through the digital system, over 60,000 students are expected to benefit from the new features in 2024. These benefits include:

  1. Faster and more efficient processing: The digital system streamlines the recognition process.

  2. Reduced recognition requirements: Recognition requirements are now relaxed for specific specializations, including:

    • Architecture and Built Environment

    • Computer Science and Information Systems

    • Data Sciences

    • Natural Sciences

    • Education and Training

    • Law and Legal Studies

Focus on quality and international standards

Dr. Hassan AlSayegh, Advisor to the Minister of Education, emphasized the Ministry's unwavering commitment to continuous improvement. He highlighted that the relaxed requirements for top-ranked universities are based on user feedback, ongoing monitoring, and development efforts. This approach aims to achieve two key objectives:

  • Encourage Students to Pursue High-Quality Education: The system incentivizes students to pursue degrees from prestigious institutions.

  • Improve Overall Educational Outcomes: Recognizing high-quality foreign degrees elevates the UAE's educational standards by fostering a culture of academic excellence.

Simplified application process

The Ministry encourages graduates from foreign universities to take advantage of the new system's simplified online application process.

All information and requirements related to the "University Certificates Recognition" system for foreign university certificates are available on the MoE website.

The Ministry invites current and past graduates from foreign HEIs to benefit from the new amendments and easily complete the recognition procedures for their university certificates through the website.
